Kia ora!
Welcome to my site. Thanks for dropping by.
All of my work is made from porcelain or earthenware and is food safe glazed. Everything is made from durable materials and suitable for use in the oven, microwave or dish washer. Though, as with any precious ceramics, I'd advise hand washing to get the most out of these pieces.
Head to my ‘About’ page for more info on me and my process. I hope you enjoy browsing my work. Recent images are often uploaded to my Instagram page first.
Ngā mihi,
Jengis
Jengis Poor is a ceramic artist specialising in wheel-thrown porcelain and earthenware, working from his home studio in Dunedin, New Zealand. Jengis draws inspiration from New Zealand landscapes, native trees, and constellations, as well as musicians and poets. These themes often appear in his work.
He is currently working with fine white clays (porcelain, earthenware) and cone 6 (fired at 1230° centigrade). All are hand-thrown on an electric wheel and fired in an oxidised atmosphere.
Domestic wares are hand painted with coloured slips (metal oxides) and over glazed with food safe clear glaze.
